1. Make an appointment to select a few styles and colors for your bridesmaids, then let them choose from your selections. This will save you many hours of decision-making and frustration. Consider bringing one attendant with you to help you with your selections. Fewer choices make it much easier for the whole party to come to a decision.
2. Consider, making an "after hours" appointment. Nothing is more fun than to get your maids together when our shop is normally closed. At this appointment our staff will measure your bridesmaids. Sizing is always "by the book". The manufacturer's book. Bridesmaids' gowns are not custom-made, but special ordered according to the manufacturer's size charts. We will review the measurement and size chart with you before a size is selected. The final decision for size is yours. Most gowns require alterations and an alteration rate card is available on request.
3. Your out of town maids must be professionally measured as well. Most full service bridal shops will do this for a small fee. The measurements we need are bust, waist and hips along with height in case extra length is required. We will also need their current address and phone number. Since we accept most major credit cards, simply have them call us with their payment information.
4. Once all measurements and payments in full for your wedding party are received, we will order the gowns all at the same time to ensure continuity in dye lots and delivery dates. The average delivery time for bridesmaids gowns is approximately 10-14 weeks. Some manufacturers offer a faster service for an additional charge.
5. When the gowns arrive, we will immediately notify you by phone or e-mail. If anyone in the bridal party moves or changes the contact information please update us as soon as possible. Gowns must be picked up within 30 days.
6. Alaska Wedding Brokers has an alterations specialists(Debbie) on staff. Our alterations rates are very competitive and reasonable. If you will be using this service, make your alteration appointment right away. At your fitting appointment you will need to bring the shoes and undergarments that you will be wearing. If you have not yet purchased these items you will find that we have an excellent selection of bras, slips and shoes at reasonable prices.
