My wife and I are members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary - a branch of the Coast Guard staffed by civilian volunteers. We promote boating safety and assist the active duty Coast Guard in almost all matters not related to law enforcement or military action. The focus of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Alaska, the 17th District, is on boating safety, vessel safety checks (including commercial fishing vessels), public education, search and rescue, member education, environmental protection, emergency preparedness, aids to navigation, and aviation operations.

My wife, Suzan, and I are members of the Anchorage Flotilla.  Suzan is past Vice Flotilla Commander (VFC).  Currently she is the staff officer for Public Affairs (FSO-PA).  I hold staff officer positions for Materials (FSO-MA) and Finance (FSO-FN).
