Aisha- Manipulating soft hearted people

Ametori no jutsu -A trick using a piece of clothing(ie-jacket) in the pretence that someone wears it

Anatoshi -Trapping

Ankokutoshijutsu -Techniques for seeing in the dark

Ashiko -Foot claws to accompany the shuko

Ate -Blow, strike

Atemi -A strike to the opponent to setup a technique

Bajutsu -Horsemanship

Bakemono - General term for weird creatures.

Bakemonojutsu -Ghost arts

Bakuhatsugama -Kusarigama with container for explosives

Bisento -Heavy bladed spear

Bo jutsu -Art of fighting with a six foot staff

Bo - Quarterstaff, full name roku-shaku-bo or six-foot-staff.

Bokken -Wooden practice sword

Boryaku -Concepts of battle strategy

Boshi ken -Thumb drive fist

Cha-No-Yo - The art and practice of the tea ceremony.

Chakuzen no jutsu -Hiding in a ceiling or attic

Chikairi no jutsu -Infiltration of enemy lines during a battle

Chiton jutsu -Use of fire, wood, earth, & metal to help aid escape

Chitsumishi -Enemy citizen collaborating with a ninja

Choho -Binja method for reporting secret investigations

Chunin - A middleman for a heimin organization; a contact man for a ninja family, overseer of genin.

Dai-Sho - The two swords of a samurai, "long and short,"

Dakentaijutsu -Striking, punching, kicking methods of ninjutsu

Dan -Grade, class, rank, level

Den -Legend, tradition

Densho -Scrolls and manuscripts, see also makimono

Do -Motion; change:path, road, way

Doka - Ninja device for holding a live coal, also used to warm hands and light fuses.

Dokubari -Poison needles in plant fibre (caltrops)

Dokuenjutsu -Poison smoke

Don ton jutsu -Earth concealment techniques

Donohi -Medicinal substance

Endokuken -Poison smoke fitted to shuriken

Ennyu no jutsu -A trick using a feint to get into an enemy camp

Eta - those outside normal society such as ninja, thieves and entertainers.

Fu -Air

Fudo ken -Clenched fist

Fudo -Immobility

Fukiya -Blow pipes and blow guns

Fukume -Veiling (covers found on the end of shinobi zue)

Fukumibari -Small pins blown at the eyes from the mouth

Fukushu - A blood feud.

Funshi - Seppuku performed to shame an otherwise untouchable foe.

Ganmen - Endure, face

Gata - Style, type, pattern

Genin - A ninja agent. "low man."

Genjutsu - Arts of illusion

Genmai - Juice made from unpolished rice

Gikan - Regard for justice

Gishogiin no jutsu - Art of forgery

Goe - Voice; tone

Gotonpo - Five element concealing and escaping methods.

Hanbo - A stick measuring three feet in length

Hane age - Jump up, spring up

Hengenkashi no jutsu - Study and knowledge of the disguises he uses

Hi - Secret

Hira shuriken - Flat blades (shaken)

Hojojutsu - Techniques of rapid binding of foes.

Hoko - Encircling tiger; hollowed out staffs and canes to conceal blades, chaines, messages, etc.

Iaijutsu - Fast-draw skill with the katana

Iburi dashi - Smoking out

Ichimonji - The character for one in japanes

Inpo - The art of hiding

Inton - Concealment and camouflage

Itami - Pain

Jo - Short club or baton, used like a mace.

Jonin - Head of a ninja family; "high man".

Jissensekko gijutsu - Techniques for scouting in actual battle

Joei no jutsu - To move without making a noise or shadows

Jutaijutsu - Throws, locks, holds, methods of ninjutsu

Ka - fire

Kaginawa - grappling hook with one to four hooks

Kai ki - Methods of gaining access

Kaiten - Rolling

Kama - Farmer's sickle; used as a weapon when necessary; edged weapon component of a kusari-gama.

Kama ikada - Water crossing device or rafts

Kamae - Posture, stance

Kamigakure no jutsu - Gaining access to a castle by befriending an enemy

Kappi - Lively jump

Karma - Good or bad "luck" in this life as reward or punishment due to actions in previous lives; fate.

Katana - Samurai sword, the "dai" of dai-sho.

Katonjutsu - The use of fire for escapes

Kawa-naga - A rope and grappling hook.

Kenjutsu - The martial art of the sword, as opposed to Kendo, The Way of the Sword.

Keri - From keru, to kick

Kiai - A shout or yell to disrupt the opponent

Kisha - Taking advice of an enemy's sensual appetite to bribe him

Kitsune gakure no jutsu - Imitating a fox to hide under water

Koppojutsu - Bonebreaking techniques of ninjutsu

Koshijutsu - Organ and muscle strikes of ninjuts

Kozutsu - Wooden guns which fire metal balls

Ku - Air, sky; emptiness;

Kuji-kiri - "Nine Ways Cutting", hand positions used to focus a Ninja's mind on the task at hand.

Kunoichi - Female ninja

Kusari dogu - Chain weapons

Kusari fundo - Weighted chain

Kuzushi - From kuzusu, to break (the balance of an opponent)

Kusari-gama - A weapon consisting of a sickle (gama) and a length of chain (kusari) or rope with a weighted end; used by Ninja and peasants as a weapon.

Kyojutsu tenkan - Theory of alternating appearences of reality

Kyutetsu-shoge - A ninja weapon consisting of a hooked knife and a weight or ring linked by rope; a climbing implement.

Kyonin no jutsu - Taking advantage of fears and superstitions

Kyuba - Archery and horsemanship

Kyudo - Archery

Kyusho - Vital points, pressure points

Ma ai - The combative distance between the two opponents

Masakari - A battle-axe.

Metsubushi- Eyes blinders smoke, sand, pepper, etc.

Mikkyo - Secret doctrines

Mokuton jutsu - Escape and concealment with trees

Mutodorijutsu - Capturing without using a sword

Naginata - Polearm with sword-like blade on the end.

Nawanukejutsu - Techniques of escape from bindings.

Neko no me no jutsu - Skill, or knowledge of the cats eyes (a code used by ninja)

Nekode - A ninja weapon and climbing device.

Ninja -Those of the counterculture, a result of yamabushi. Focused individuals on an objective.

Ninja-to - Ninja sword; straight-bladed sword somewhat smaller than a katana

Nodachi - Large form of the katana.

Nunchaku - Jointed end of a grain flail, used as a weapon.

Obi - Belt, it had numerous uses including holding the two swords, knives and fans were also worn tucked into the folds of the belt

Saiminjutsu - Ninja hypnotic technique; source of powers, together with kuji-kiri.

Seiza - correct sitting

Seppuku - Ritual suicide, commited by a ninja in order to avoid torture for information.

Sennin - Mystic

Sensei - Teacher

Shaken - Throwing stars

Shikanken - Extended knuckle fist

Shinai - Practice sword made of split bamboo

Shinobi - An accomplished ninja, a master of ninjutsu.

Shinobi-zue - A stick or staff concealing a weapon, used by Ninja.

Shogun - Military ruler of Nippon; full title is Sei-i-tai-shogun; "great barbarian subduing general".

Shuko - Hand claws

Shuriken - Throwing blades, stars, discs.

Shuto ken - Open sword hand

Sohei - Martial monks maintained as troops by some Buddhist temples.

Sui - Water

Tanto - Knife or dagger.

Tabi - Traditional footwear of the japanese

Taihenjutsu - Silent movement, rolling, leaping, tumbling

Taijutsu - Techniques performed without weapons

Taijutsu - The body art, the unarmed combat methods of ninjutsu

Tessen - A metal or metal-reinforced fan, used as a (concealable) weapon by buke or kuge.

Tetsubo - Literally "iron-staff"; a large staff of metal or metal-reinforced wood used as a heavy club.

Tetsubishi - Small caltrops used by ninja to hinder pursuit.

Tonfa - Crank handle for a millstone, used as a weapon.

Ukemi - The act of taking a controlled fall when thrown

Wa - Inner harmony; the sense of peace gained by being one with the world.

Wakizashi - Short sword; the "sho" of the dai-sho.

Ya - Arrow

Yagen - Poisons and curatives

Yadomejutsu - Martial art of cutting down or parrying arrows.

Yamabushi - A martial monk of a Buddhist sect, often more mystically inclined than the more common sohei martial monks. Usually highly trained and motivated.

Yamikeigo - Ninja practice in the dark

Yari - Spear

Yogen - Study of mysterious powders, drugs and compounds used by the Ninja; comparable to the art of alchemy.
