Introduction

So often we believe mathematicians are these strange men who sit all day in libraries or in dark corners inventing new ways of torture.  Well believe it or not,  people from all walks of life played important role in mathematics. From this project will gain an appreciation of mathematicians.

In this activity, you are going to learn some interesting facts about a famous mathematician.  You are going to find a mathematician which has the same birthday.  After you choose a famous mathematician, you are going to create a birthday card.

Have you studied any of the same topics as your mathematician?

How many interesting facts can you find out about the famous mathematician that you have chosen?



The Task

Your quest will be to find:

*       Find mathematician with the same birthdate or same month and the last two digits of birth year .

*       Find as many interesting facts as you can about your famous mathematician.

*       Find out the contributions that were made to the study of mathematics by your famous mathematician.

*       Find out if we have studied any topics that your famous mathematician studied.

*       Create a birthday card. Pictures need to be included

The internet will be used to for the research portion.

 



The Process

Step 1:  Choose a mathematician with the same birthday. If you can not find one choose a mathematician with the same month and the last two digits of the year.
