Compensation
Department
of Information Systems has been the study focus for the
classification system which the University of Alaska is currently
considering. This system would "cluster" like jobs
together providing for a single hierarchical classification
throughout the entire MAU. According to
Janet Jacobs, Executive
Director for Human Resources, the system would solidify "ability, qualifications, tasks and responsibilities."
Concerns have been raised as to the cost of implementing such a program.
Even though Jacobs agrees initial implementation may cost more
upfront, the system would eventually save the University money while
providing employees with more benefits.

Development Training program in October. Orientation presentations
will be given as an introduction to all university employees.
Melissa Hill, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for UA, expresses that, "This is an exciting time to
be part of the University of Alaska System. It's a win-win
for employees and the University when administration invests
in our future."
