The Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center (SACTC) provides quality
training for both, apprentices in the SACTC Apprenticeship Program and Union
Journeymen that are members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners
of America (UBC).
Our MissionIt is our goal to provide training that will keep our UBC members at the top
of their craft. Our apprentices are trained to meet the needs of our Union
Contractors and to be the future leaders in our craft.
Training Centers ProfileThe Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center has provided training for UBC apprentices and journeymen members since 1936. SACTC has been registered with the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training since 1955. The training that is provided enhances our members' ability to be safe, productive craftsmen. SACTC is the training center for Carpenters Locals 1281 in Anchorage and 2247 in Juneau. SACTC and the Unions are all affiliated with the International Union of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. At the Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center we like to say, "Through Our Doors Pass the Best Trained Builders in the Nation". The Training Coordinator is a long time member of Carpenters Local 1281 and a
graduate of this Apprenticeship program. All but one Instructor for the
Apprenticeship program graduated from this program and the other graduated from
a UBC Apprenticeship program in New York. They all
have varying years of experience in the trade. The Instructors for the Enhancement
classes are made up of either Instructors from the Apprenticeship or Journeymen
members that are qualified to teach specific trade subjects.
