Other Darms Families

A few other Darms families immigrated from Switzerland to the Wisconsin/Minnesota area in the 1800's.  Two families came to the same township and about the same time as our family.  At this time, I have found no direct connection between these families, but it seems likely that they might have been at least distantly related.  Besides the Wisconsin Darms, there are  two other Darms families in the US of which I am aware.   The Leonhard Darms family immigrated later in the 19th century through New Orleans, settling  in Los Angeles.  This family is related to our family.  Another Darms family settled in the New York area.  At this time, I have not included either of these latter two families in my research.

Note!  The picture on left is of an unknown couple and probably not from any of the families on this page.  It was taken in Praire du Sac.

Other Darms of Sauk Co. WI

The 1850 Sauk County, Wisconsin Federal Census lists three Darms families.  One is the the Major Darms family which soon moved to LaCrosse Co.    Another is the Amos Darms family (Amos may be a census enumerator's understanding of a German pronunciation of Johannes.  The rest of this enumerated family is my line.  See Darms).    The last is John and Anna Darms, aged 61 and 64.   It is not known at this time what became of this family unless, possibly, they are related to the Stillwater Darms.    Much more research would be needed to prove or disprove that very shaky guess.
